“Wait,” Damion ordered, holding up his hand. “Let me get this straight. You want the four of us to join our companies and start a new alliance? What about the old one with Rock?” he asked.

As soon as they got to the bar and ordered drinks, Jett told Finn, Damion, and Carter his plan on ousting Rock from his half of the company and branching out on his own. That part wasn’t a surprise as much as the second part of his plan was. Jett wanted to join their companies to strengthen the alliance and Finn wasn’t so sure that his partner would go for it.

He and Damion had built their company from nothing. While other Syndicates boasted about their dirty business practices, their company operated on the up and up. They loaned money to businesses that had a lot of promise. They helped people and corporations grow their dreams and when they were paid back, it was with a healthy interest margin. They were damn proud of what they had built together and Damion didn’t look like he was too happy about Jett’s idea of joining all four of their companies.

“Can you even buy your father out?” Finn asked.

“No,” Jett admitted. “But, he can buy me out. I’ll take my holdings and bring them over to your company. My client list, my expertise—they will all merge with your company. I’d like for the Lust family to be a part of this too, Carter,” Jett said.

Nixon’s brother usually kept to himself. The Syndicate thing was new to both him and Nix. Their parents were killed by the Gluttony’s and they grew up outside of the Syndicate. Now that they had reestablished the Lust Syndicate and were building their holdings, Carter looked hesitant to take Jett up on his offer to join forces.

“Why can’t we just stick to the original plan?” Carter asked. “I mean if our families agree to an alliance, isn’t that enough?” Finn already knew the answer to that question—it wasn’t enough.

“No,” Damion said, answering for Jett. “It wouldn’t be enough to bring down the Gluttony family. Not if Rock threw his half of the Syndicate behind them. If that happens, it will be four against four since the Gluttony’s already have the Wrath and Sloth Syndicates in their pocket. We can’t let that happen. The only way that we’ll be able to win is if we’re all in—our companies, our allegiance, everything. We fight as a team and any deviation for that, we’ll all end up dead.”

“I do get a lot of death threats from the Gluttony family, but I assumed that was because I went up against them and challenged them when I essentially came back from the dead to reinstate the Lust Syndicate,” Carter said.

“Naw—that’s just a Tuesday around here,” Damion teased. “As heads of the Pride and Envy Syndicates, Finn and I have to keep a full staff of security detail both at work and at our homes. We get death threats on the daily from the other Syndicate families.
